Unhatched

I really want to start a serial comic again.

Everytime I come home from my job I just want to become a bump on my couch and play video games. I’m an incredibly lazy person and an amazing procrastinator. But I know I’d be good if I tried.

I don’t like to look at other people’s stuff until I have something to present back. I’m a terribly boring and awkward person; my work is what makes me feel legitimate.

Mabinogi 4koma pt2

Thanks for replying to the last post. Turns out I was an idiot and relative linking all the images, so that’s why you didn’t see them in feed.

Also, all of my syndication goes through Google’s feedburner, so now you can read my blog however you like.

Mabi comics (kindabig):

These ones I didn’t feel like coloring. If you’ve played any MMO the first one outa ring a bell.

Comic Advice

Saturday, August 23rd, 2008

This is mainly directed at other comic artists who are reading this:

I think if I were getting paid, I would produce more comics (lol why am I saying that; wouldn’t we all?).

I would like to do a serial short manga for a website. Something like the 4koma stuff I actually manage to put up. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to sell myself as a producer of, er, valuable content? I was thinking something along the lines of going to a popular anime website and saying, “Hey, you guys need a stupid comic on the left column”, but maybe that pitch needs work. Thanks for taking the time to read this.

What the dick?

Wow. Get your story straight Tokyopop.…or maybe you don’t think artists deserve a straight answer, i dunno. TP, do you have a hard time breaking up with girlfriends you don’t really like?

About American manga

Saturday, June 21st, 2008

So there is an issue with images not showing up for the RSS readers. Thanks all who commented and let me know. I’ll look into this, and hopefully I can get images working soon.

A week or so ago I made a post asking questions about American manga. I think now is a good time to share my opinion.

OEL manga is still… to quote of Ryoma Echizen “mada mada da ne”. In other words, there’s much work to be done. What I’ve seen is a lot of good sketch book ideas, but the artists and writers seem to have difficulty expressing them with confidence. I wont name names (okay, I will, me, haha).

I think the recipe for success here is “original and with confidence”.

This means that artists may have to kill their manga/anime habit for the sake of new ideas. As artists we hardly notice it, but we do borrow ideas that have made impressions on us. If most of your time is spent consuming one type of material, that is what you’re going to poop out.

Life experience is lacking across the board. You get access to new material every time you do something new in life, and I don’t think many people think about this. Besides, it’s fun to experience things with the mindset of a news reporter.

Those are some of my thoughts. I know I have a lot of work to do too.
